School Bus Heroes is built around peer mentoring, setting the example, and choosing to lead wherever you go. The goal is simple: make sure the people you interact with off campus get the best version of you too.

The Route Has Two Sides. Both Start With Showing Up.
School Bus Heroes connects youth leadership with intentional mentor presence. Young people are challenged to lead their peers and carry strong character beyond campus, while Three J Youth mentors show up at key moments before and after school to help create positive interactions along the way.
Leadership is not limited to a title, a team, or the school day. School Bus Heroes encourages young people to recognize the influence they already have and use it to set a stronger example for the people around them.
Look for opportunities to encourage, support, guide, and positively influence other young people.
Let your choices and interactions demonstrate the standard you want others to follow.
Carry respect, character, responsibility, and positive influence beyond school grounds.
Three J Youth mentors create intentional pop up moments around bus stops and school arrival and departure areas to welcome students, encourage them, and help make the beginning and end of the school day feel positive.
Create a welcoming interaction that helps students walk into the day with positive energy.
A greeting, encouragement, or positive moment can help set the tone before the school day begins.
Be present again as students leave campus so the final interaction of the school day can be just as positive as the first.

Leadership Should Travel With You. Not Stay On Campus.
Being a School Bus Hero means understanding that who you are around other people matters wherever you are. The goal is to carry leadership, positive influence, and your best effort into the spaces you move through every day.
Leadership begins with your own choices and behavior. Before asking someone else to do better, be willing to show them what better can look like.
Look for opportunities to encourage another young person, make a positive choice easier, or help shift the direction of an interaction. You do not need a title to positively influence the people around you.
The way you interact with people at the bus stop, on the way home, in your neighborhood, and outside of school still represents the kind of leader you are becoming.
When one young person chooses to lead well, support a peer, or set a stronger example, that influence can continue through the people they interact with long after the school day ends.
The Route Ends. Leadership Doesn’t.
The bus may reach its final stop and the school day may come to an end, but the opportunity to positively influence someone keeps going. School Bus Heroes is about choosing to show up, set the example, and give people your best wherever the route takes you.
