My Story Real Stories. Real Outcomes.
Real Stories. Familiar Circumstances.
My Story

Hear Their Story. See What Came Next.

My Story captures real experiences for young people to hear, relate to, and learn from. By hearing from someone who has faced similar circumstances, youth can see the choices, lessons, challenges, and outcomes that became part of that person’s journey.

Why It Matters Sometimes the story you need most comes from someone who has stood where you are standing.

Why Stories Matter

Sometimes You Need To Hear From Someone Who Has Been There.

My Story captures real experiences so young people can hear from people who have faced circumstances they may recognize. The story includes more than what happened. It also shows the choices, lessons, growth, and outcomes that followed.

A Three J Youth Program One story can become a bridge for someone else.
The Big Idea A relatable story can give a young person perspective before they have to learn every lesson the hard way.
01
Hear.
Start with someone willing to tell the truth about what they lived.

My Story captures experiences in a way that allows young people to hear the circumstances, challenges, decisions, setbacks, and moments that shaped another person’s journey.

02
Relate.
Recognize something familiar in someone else’s experience.

A story becomes powerful when a young person can hear it and think, “I understand that,” “I have felt that,” or “I am dealing with something like that right now.”

03
Learn.
See what happened next and what the experience taught.

The outcome matters. Hearing how someone responded, what choices they made, what they would change, what they learned, and where life took them can give another young person a different perspective on their own next step.

Why We Capture It
Sometimes seeing how someone else came through it helps you see more possibilities for yourself.

Your Experience Could Help Someone Else
Your Story Has Value

Someone May Need To Hear Your Story.

The things you have experienced, learned, overcome, changed, or discovered may feel personal to you. But sharing that journey could help another young person recognize themselves in your story and see a possibility they could not see before.

Think About It The story that helped you move forward could become the story that helps someone else.

Why Tell Your Story?

What You Lived Could Mean Something To Someone Else.

Telling your story is not only about looking back. It is about putting words to what you experienced, what you learned, and what happened next. That perspective may become something another young person can recognize, learn from, or carry with them.

My Story Four Reasons Your Story Matters.
Somebody may recognize themselves in the story only you can tell.
01
Tell It Honestly Own It.
Your experience belongs to you.

Other people may have been part of what happened, but your perspective on the experience is your own. Telling your story gives you the opportunity to say what you saw, what you felt, what changed, and what you learned from where you stood.

What part of your story would you want someone to understand?
02
Look at the Journey Make Meaning.
A story is more than a list of things that happened.

Telling it gives you space to connect the circumstances, decisions, setbacks, changes, lessons, and outcomes. Sometimes the meaning becomes clearer when you can see the journey as a whole.

What did the experience teach you that you did not know before?
03
Let Someone Relate Reach Someone.
Someone else may be standing where you once stood.

A young person hearing your story may recognize the same fear, pressure, mistake, challenge, decision, or uncertainty. That connection can make your experience more than something that happened to you. It can become perspective for them.

Who might need to hear what you wish someone had told you?
04
Leave Something Behind Pass It Forward.
Your outcome can become part of someone else’s beginning.

Sharing what happened next, what you would do differently, what helped, and what you learned can give another young person something real to consider as they make choices in their own story.

What lesson from your journey is worth passing forward?
Tell It Forward
Your story does not have to be perfect to be meaningful. It just has to be yours.

The Story Does Not Stop With You

Your Story Could Be Someone Else’s Turning Point.

Someone may be facing circumstances that look a lot like something you have already lived through. They may have the same questions, fears, pressure, uncertainty, or decisions in front of them. What you learned and what happened next may be exactly the perspective they need to hear.
