Father’s Day: A Kirk Franklin Story
At Three J Youth, we believe healing fuels leadership and mentorship starts with truth. Father’s Day: A Kirk Franklin Story reflects that belief in a powerful and unfiltered way. In this short documentary, Kirk Franklin opens up about identity abandonment forgiveness and the lifelong impact of fatherhood as he meets his biological father for the first time at age 53.
This story matters because many of the young people and families we serve carry unanswered questions unresolved pain and generational gaps. Franklin’s journey reminds us that growth does not stop with age and that confronting the past is often the first step toward becoming the mentor leader or parent we are called to be.
At its core, this film reinforces what Three J Youth stands on. You do not have to be perfect to be present. You do not have to have all the answers to make a difference. And healing is not weakness. It is strength in motion.
This is more than a Father’s Day story. It is a reminder that when we choose accountability faith and intentional connection we create space for transformation in ourselves and in the next generation.
